Securing Critical Data Without Sacrificing Speed

Today's applications don't just need to be fast—they need to be secure. As time-series, event, and vector data become increasingly central to operations, having robust security measures is non-negotiable. Timescale delivers enterprise-grade security without compromising the performance that made it famous.

More than 1,600 organizations like Toyota, Warner Music Group, and the Financial Times run mission-critical, demanding applications on Timescale. They face growing demands for enterprise-grade security and compliance as they handle increasingly sensitive and distributed data, often in regulated environments, while trying to move fast and stay ahead. It’s not just about scaling performance anymore; it’s about scaling trust.

That means having built-in safeguards, encryption, access controls, and auditability from day one.

Many systems force trade-offs between performance, simplicity, and flexibility. The result is often a patchwork of tools that need constant tuning and attention, diverting focus away from development and toward infrastructure maintenance.

Enterprise-Grade Architecture

Timescale Cloud is purpose-built for demanding applications where performance, reliability, and compliance are all first-order concerns. It extends Postgres with time-series, analytics, and AI capabilities offering enterprise teams the ability to handle massive data volumes with low-latency queries while ensuring that systems remain secure, auditable, and compliant.

Security and compliance are integrated into the database from the ground up. Timescale Cloud supports features such as encryption at rest and in transit, strict access control integrations, and certified standards such as SOC 2. These capabilities allow teams to build and scale sensitive, customer-facing systems.

Key Features for Security and Compliance

Compliance and security

Non-compliance costs more than you think. If you’re in fintech, healthcare, or SaaS, falling short on regulatory compliance puts you at risk—of fines, data breaches, and customer trust erosion. Timescale Cloud helps you stay ahead with built-in features like full-disk encryption, SSO and SAML-based access controls, and detailed auditing.

With HIPAA and GDPR support, you can manage protected health information (PHI) securely—without building custom infrastructure or sacrificing performance.

Certified enterprise-grade security: SOC2

Timescale Cloud is SOC 2 Type II and certified. That means regular audits, strong internal controls, and rigorous adherence to data security standards. Whether you're preparing for an enterprise security review or just need peace of mind, Timescale Cloud meets the bar.

Key features for access

Transit Gateway

Large organizations often operate in multi-cloud or hybrid environments. Timescale Cloud supports AWS Transit Gateway, enabling private, secure connectivity across cloud regions and data centers with no public internet routing. It’s ideal for teams that need to comply with strict network isolation policies while still building high-availability services.

IP Allow List: Granular network access control

Security perimeters are essential in enterprise environments. Timescale Cloud's IP Allow List feature provides precise control over which networks can access your Timescale instances. This granular network access control ensures only authorized networks connect to your data, with immediate blocking of unauthorized access attempts.

The simple management interface lets you maintain separate configurations for production and development environments. This capability is particularly valuable for organizations with strict compliance requirements or those operating in regulated industries where network-level access controls are mandatory.

AWS Marketplace

Enterprise organizations often have strict internal policies for software procurement and vendor management. Timescale Cloud is available on AWS Marketplace with both Pay as You Go and Private Offer plans, making it easier to comply with your organization's governance frameworks and procurement requirements. This integration allows you to leverage existing AWS contracts and enterprise agreements while spinning up production environments in minutes using your established AWS accounts and budget allocation.

Role-based access control (RBAC) [Private Beta coming soon]

Security and operational control go hand in hand, especially in enterprise environments with multiple collaborators, contractors, and data stakeholders. Timescale Cloud already includes the robust system of roles and privileges provided by Postgres for the data plane, allowing fine-grained control over who can access or modify database objects.

Soon, it will include built-in role-based access control (RBAC) for the control plane, enabling teams to assign granular access to users based on their roles. Define owners, admins, developers, and viewers with predefined permissions for managing services, accessing production systems, or observing infrastructure.

Enterprise-Ready Database Platform

Modern applications are more complex and business-critical than ever. Timescale gives you a trusted platform to scale confidently, simplify your stack, and stay focused on growing your business—not infrastructure.

When building the next generation of customer-facing, data-driven software, Timescale Cloud is the foundation the enterprise has been looking for.
